Special Anniversary Eclectic Ellapu Challenge — Mesiversary Card!

This weeks Eclectic Ellapu blog challenge is “Special Anniversary.” Traditionally this would refer to the big 25 or 50 year mark. I thought about that and I thought about what the word special really means. Special: Better, greater, or otherwise different from what is usual, particular, peculiar, specific, extra.

I decided that the definition of special could very well refer to what my husband and I call our mesiversary. We celebrate monthly. We always have. Sure some of our friends tease us about it, but I don’t care. It is special to us and it keeps us focused on how important our marriage is. It helps us reserve time for each other. It helps us focus on the positive vs. the negative.

So, with that in mind, I chose to make a mesiversary card for my cutie hubs as this weeks challenge project.

I used all scrap paper for this card. I love to do that because cards are small and it’s a great way to use your scraps! I was going for a grungier look since my husband is a little lot intimidated by my glitter and blings and anything sparkly =) I also used a lot of Teresa Collins die cuts and stickers from her Vintage Finds Collection. I love how versatile they are. You can dress them up or down.
I love photo corners. These are made my Teresa Collins from her Vintage Finds collection. They are so neutral that they will go well with any color scheme. They can be super vintage chic or grungy.
We got married on April 2nd so we celebrate on the 2nd of each month! This is a day where we dedicate time to spend together, sometimes there is a small gift. We usually go to dinner and have a date night, but not always.
I added this beer bottle cap to add to the masculine feel of the card. This is a beer we had on our honeymoon in Playa del Carmen.
I am seriously in LOVE with using office supplies in my crafting. I am especially loving my label maker. I wasn’t originally going to include the “I Love You” labels on this card, but my cutie came in my craft room while I was working on it (I had to throw my other project on top of it so he wouldn’t see it!) and he grabs my label maker and types it out and gives it to me. He is so much fun!!! Little did he know he was ‘crafting’, lol!!!!
To add to the grunginess, I spattered the card with white acrylic paint.

In the end, I think it was huge success; hubs liked it! He said it looked a little steam-punk, which he likes a lot. Don’t forget to check out the Eclectic Ellapu blog to see the other design team member’s projects and enter the challenge yourself!
